Florida Congressman Daniel Webster has cast his vote in favor of H. J. Res. 20, a resolution aimed at overturning a Department of Energy regulation concerning tankless, gas-powered water heaters. The regulation was introduced by the Biden Administration on December 26, 2024.

Rep. Webster expressed his opposition to the rule, stating: “In its final day, the Biden Administration issued burdensome regulations on water heaters that makes life harder for Americans.” He further criticized the rule as an example of government overreach, adding: “This rule from former President Biden’s DOE is yet another example of heavy-handed government overreach that ignores the realities of affordability, market availability, and the energy needs of millions of Americans.”

The contested regulation set new efficiency standards for gas-fired instantaneous water heaters. According to Rep. Webster, these standards would have increased costs for consumers and restricted access to reliable appliances.

“I will always stand against Washington bureaucrats that try to impose unnecessary regulations that increase costs and reduce choice for Americans,” Rep. Webster stated.
