Florida Congressman Daniel Webster has voted in favor of H.R. 695, the Medal of Honor Act, which aims to increase the special pension for Medal of Honor recipients. This legislative move seeks to enhance the financial benefits awarded to those who have shown extraordinary valor in military service.

Rep. Webster stated, "The Medal of Honor is awarded to our nation’s service members who demonstrate extraordinary acts of valor, often at a great personal cost." He emphasized that the legislation would ensure recipients receive "the dignity and financial security they deserve," acknowledging the sacrifices made by these individuals.

Currently, Medal of Honor recipients are entitled to a monthly pension amounting to $1,406.73 or an annual total of $16,880.76. The new bill proposes raising this annual pension to $100,000. The Medal of Honor remains the highest U.S. award for military valor and is presented personally by the President.

Rep. Webster concluded his remarks by affirming his commitment: "We owe our service members a debt we can never repay, and I will always stand for those who have risked everything for our freedoms."
