Recently, the National Retail Federation (NRF) honored Florida Congressman Daniel Webster as a "Hero of Main Street" for his contributions to advancing public policy that supports a robust retail sector. Congressman Webster, representing Clermont, expressed his commitment to advocating for small businesses and reducing government interference.
"Retail has a tremendous impact on Florida’s economy, driving over $350 billion in economic activity and directly supporting 2.3 million jobs," said Rep. Webster. He emphasized his personal understanding of the challenges faced by small business owners and pledged to be an advocate for policies benefiting hardworking Americans.
David French, NRF Executive Vice President of Government Relations, acknowledged the widespread influence of the retail industry across all U.S. congressional districts. "NRF is honored to recognize Rep. Webster as a ‘Hero of Main Street’ for their continued support of the retail industry through legislative action and leadership," he stated.
The "Hero of Main Street" award was established by NRF in 2013 to acknowledge lawmakers who champion the retail industry's public policy goals. Eligibility for this recognition depends on key votes, bill sponsorships, and advocacy efforts aligned with industry priorities.
The NRF is dedicated to promoting people, brands, policies, and ideas essential for retail success from its Washington D.C. headquarters. As the largest private-sector employer in the nation, retail contributes $5.3 trillion annually to GDP and supports over 55 million American jobs. For more than a century, NRF has served as an advocate for retailers and their employees.
