Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, has voiced his support for a series of bills aimed at holding illegal immigrants accountable and protecting law enforcement officials. He made these remarks after voting in favor of H.R. 7343, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act; H.R. 8146, the Police Our Border Act; and H.Res. 1210.

Rep. Webster attributed the need for such measures to President Biden's "senseless open-border policies," stating that every town is now a border town due to these policies. He argued that law enforcement officials nationwide are encountering more violent incidents with illegal immigrants as a result.

"When an illegal immigrant assaults law enforcement officials, they should be permanently detained until they're deported," said Rep. Webster. "These bills help protect our men and women in blue by holding criminals accountable and provide transparency into the effects of how President Biden’s border crisis impacts law enforcement."

H.R. 7343, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act, mandates Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain any illegal immigrant charged with or convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The Police Our Border Act, H.R. 8146, requires the U.S. Attorney General to submit a report to Congress detailing how the border crisis has affected federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement.

H.Res. 1210 condemns the Biden Administration’s open-border policies which have allegedly created significant burdens for law enforcement officers.
