Eustis Elementary issued the following announcement on Nov. 21.
Students in Ms. Trabue’s class took a deep dive into Wit&Wisdom Module 2 (The West) using a Book Tasting. 5 out of 7 books were sampled using a Notice & Wonder "menu". Students read and explored these books and then responded to what they noticed and wondered about each text. They also had an opportunity to write a Wow! Fact.
Each area had a connection to the text: The Buffalo's are Back had a Buffalo (Beef) Jerky sampling so that they understood how meat was preserved, The Plains Indians had a model of a teepee as well as an edible art piece. Johnny Appleseed had a character Trait Thinking Map and apples, The Legend of the Blue Bonnet had fresh popcorn. Finally, the tasting ended with The Journey of the Pioneers where there was a wagon with Turkey legs made from Rice Krispy Treats! What a wonderful experience for Ms. Trabue’s class!
