HAPPY NATIONAL MENTORING DAY!
Thank you to all the mentors who participated! Our first entry is from Cari Warnock.
"I currently mentor Rhianna N, 11th grader at Palm Bay Magnet High. She amazes me with her juggling act: FLVS course, EFSC courses, and on campus learning at PBMHS. She has become such an eloquent writer and is her drive is second to none. She stuns me with her ambitiousness for learning and school. Even after being quarantined at home, she kept up with all her courses and maintained a nearly perfect 4.0 GPA. I know SAT prep is right around the corner and decisions about college and career are coming, but for now she is honing her skills and refining her ability to handle college courses at 15 years old!
I mentored Mysteri H a few years ago from middle school at McNair to Rockledge High. She was a cheer leader, in the Cambridge program, and she is now in college studying a medical field. Her drive and ability to stay active in school yet take super challenging courses all while maintaining creativity in art courses always amazed me. I recall going to a career fair on a Saturday morning with her, and she wasn’t sure what she wanted to pursue for her career, after all she was only 14. To watch her drive and abilities in science really kept me thinking she needed to pursue healthcare or medical.
Both young women give me so much hope for the future!"
