Florida Congressman Daniel Webster voted in favor of H.R. 7006, the Financial Services and General Government and National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026. The legislation was passed in Washington, D.C., aiming to implement fiscal restraint while advancing conservative priorities.

“This legislation rejects the Washington presumption that nothing can be cut from the budget in order to fund priorities without increasing the deficit,” said Rep. Webster. “By restoring regular order, we are cutting spending below last year’s levels, while advancing common-sense conservative priorities. H.R. 7006 protects consumer choice, defends the unborn, strengthens border and drug enforcement, and refocuses national security funding from radical policies to countering adversaries like communist China.”

H.R. 7006 merges two appropriations bills into a single package and seeks to move Congress away from larger omnibus bills and temporary continuing resolutions. The act reduces overall spending compared to Fiscal Year 2025.

Among its financial services provisions, the bill blocks certain regulations on recreational vehicles and household appliances introduced during the Biden administration. It also maintains congressional oversight over the District of Columbia with continued restrictions on taxpayer funding for abortion services and preserves protections regarding contraceptive mandates.

For national security programs, the bill cuts more than $9 billion—representing a 16% reduction from FY2025—and aims to bolster support for U.S. allies while focusing efforts against countries such as China. The legislation emphasizes combating fentanyl trafficking and other illicit drugs entering the country, prohibits funding for initiatives supporting illegal immigration, and eliminates spending on diversity, equity, inclusion programs as well as certain climate and gender-related mandates.

Daniel Webster has represented Florida’s 11th district in Congress since 2011 after replacing Alan Grayson. He previously served in both chambers of Florida’s legislature: in the House of Representatives from 1980 to 1998 and in the Senate from 1998 to 2008. Born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1949, Webster currently resides in Clermont at age 74. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1971.
