Daniel Webster, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 11th district since 2011, recently highlighted a series of legislative initiatives on his social media account. The posts detail his efforts to advance environmental protection, support the Coast Guard, and improve disaster response.
On July 22, 2025, Webster wrote: “My bill, the Florida Safe Seas Act of 2025 just received its first hearing in the @NatResources! This legislation mirrors current Florida law to prohibit the hand feeding of sharks in federal waters off Florida’s coast. Florida’s beaches and coastal waters are central to our way”.
A day later, on July 23, he announced progress on another legislative priority: “The House just passed one of my priorities – the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2025! This bill builds on the investments from the One Big Beautiful Bill to ensure the @USCG has the resources needed to protect our waters, stop drug & human traffickers, and ensure maritime”.
Continuing his focus on emergency preparedness and government efficiency, Webster posted on July 24: “I’ve introduced the FEMA Act of 2025 to cut red tape, streamline FEMA, and make disaster response faster, more efficient, and accountable. As a Floridian, I’ve seen the devastation hurricanes bring—and how critical strong preparation and response are. This bill builds on”.
Daniel Webster has represented Florida’s 11th District in Congress since replacing Alan Grayson in 2011. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served nearly three decades in state government as a member of both the Florida House of Representatives (1980–1998) and Senate (1998–2008). Born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1949 and currently residing in Clermont at age 74, Webster is also an alumnus of Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1971.
