Florida Congressman Daniel Webster has announced his support for H.R. 881, known as the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act. This legislation aims to limit funding to American universities that have connections with Confucius Institutes and other entities linked to China.

Rep. Webster emphasized the perceived threat posed by these institutions, stating, “The Chinese Community Party continues to pose a serious threat to America’s national security.” He further explained his stance by noting the role of Confucius Institutes in spreading propaganda within the U.S. education system.

Webster highlighted past efforts during the first Trump Administration to remove such institutes from Florida’s educational landscape. With President Trump now back in office, he stated, “We are taking decisive action to cut off federal funding to any institution that partners with these entities.”

The congressman concluded by asserting that taxpayer money should not support foreign influence in American educational institutions: “It’s simple, American taxpayer dollars must never be used to fund foreign influence in our nation’s educational institutions.”
