Washington, D.C. — Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, released a statement regarding the House’s second appropriations package, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024.

"I ran for office pledging to do my part to slow the spigot of spending. I supported the first appropriations package because it saves taxpayers more than $200 billion, protects veterans Second Amendment rights, stops the DOJ from targeting parents and cuts the budgets of the ATF, EPA, and DOJ," stated Congressman Webster.

While acknowledging the importance of funding for certain priorities, Congressman Webster expressed his reservations about the second spending bill, citing concerns over excessive spending on non-critical programs and policies.

Regarding the provisions related to border security, Congressman Webster highlighted his disappointment in the lack of policy changes that would compel President Biden to reconsider his immigration policies. "I owe it to my constituents to vote against legislation that lets President Biden spend more taxpayer dollars on his senseless immigration policies," he emphasized.

Despite his reservations, Congressman Webster commended Speaker Johnson's efforts and expressed satisfaction with the funding allocated for the construction of additional United States Coast Guard ocean vessels. He emphasized the critical nature of these investments for the Coast Guard to carry out their missions effectively, particularly in light of their efforts to intercept and repatriate individuals attempting to enter Florida illegally.
